About

The Louisiana Archives and Manuscripts Association promotes the role of archives in the preservation of our national, state, and local heritage by cooperating with Louisiana's public and private archival repositories in their work of collecting, conserving, and making accessible to the public manuscript, printed, graphic arts, and audio materials of historical significance.

In June 2020, the LAMA Board and Officers approved a Statement on Black Lives and Archives condemning violence and racism towards Black Americans and people of color. We stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, students, volunteers, and patrons.

In March 2018, the LAMA Board of Directors approved a Diversity and Inclusion Statement. It reflects and affirms the values expressed by our colleagues from the Society of American Archivists, Society of Southwestern Archivists, and Society of California Archivists.
